How to Apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct

🛡️ What Is a Certificate of Good Conduct?

A Certificate of Good Conduct, also known as a Police Clearance Certificate, is an official document issued through the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

It may be required for employment, immigration, professional purposes and other official processes.

📋 What You Need

For a Kenyan adult applicant, you should generally have:

An active eCitizen account.
Your original National ID.
Access to the required payment method.
Ability to print the required application documents.
Access to the fingerprinting location selected during the application.

Requirements can differ for minors, foreign residents, refugees and applicants outside Kenya. Always check the latest DCI instructions for your category.

1️⃣ Access the Official DCI eCitizen Service

Visit the official DCI eCitizen service and sign in using your eCitizen account.

2️⃣ Start Your Application

Follow the instructions provided on the official portal and select the appropriate Police Clearance Certificate application.

Carefully enter your personal information and review everything before submitting.

3️⃣ Select a Fingerprinting Location

During the application, select the available location where you will have your fingerprints taken.

Follow the locations currently displayed by the official application system.

4️⃣ Make the Required Payment

Select the payment method shown on the official application and complete the required payment.

5️⃣ Print the Required Documents

After completing the application and payment, follow the official instructions to download and print the required documents.

6️⃣ Attend Fingerprinting

Go to the fingerprinting location selected during your application.

Carry the required documents and your original identification as instructed by DCI.

7️⃣ Wait for Processing

After fingerprinting, your application will undergo processing by the relevant government authority.

Monitor your phone and eCitizen account for official notifications.

8️⃣ Download Your Certificate

When your certificate is ready, follow the official instructions to access and download it through your eCitizen account.

Never share your eCitizen password.
Never give your OTP to another person.
Never publish your ID number or other sensitive personal information unnecessarily.
Make payments only through official channels.
